The Bay Bridged are putting together a showcase at SXSW and while they wrongly report that Bloc Party and Wine-o are playing at this one (that was last year, fellas) they’re putting together a good showcase.

While Scissors for Lefty is clearly the awesome, wonderful, amazing top of the pops band people should be looking out for at SXSW, I can’t express (enough) my hate for Von Iva
I had the unfortunate experience of seeing them open for scissors (where they should be staying, tbh) on NYE 2008 and basically, they made me sick. I’d like to take this opportunity to say that the keyboardist is awesome but thats it. I mean, its three “hot girls” (one has a tranny face, srsly) and no guitars and a lead singer with said tranny face and she wants to be amy winehouse SO HARD. like, when is it appropriate to have a tranny face, a hooker outfit, lipstick smeared all over your chin yelling about how fucking around is so empowering for females. UH NO thnx. Besides, they need to ask the Arctic Monkeys how many songs you can REALLY write about going out. And the answer is like, half of your first album. Then everyone gets tired of you.
