This song was never one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs. It was too grand and majestic and kind of high-and-mighty, not to mention the fact that it’s one of Bob’s most surreal songs, and I never got into it. However, the other day at work, I was playing ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ over the loudspeaker and this song really stunned me finally. The way Bob’s voice sounds when he sings the respective ‘Gates of Eden’ lines at the end of each stanza just has been stuck in my head for ages. Such a good song, but it was definitely a grower.
