Having downloaded this song off of GvB on a whim they other day, I was finally ready to give into a band that I wasn’t really sure I’d like. I’d seen Pochaunted before with the Growlers and well, was. not. impressed. But this bitch! She left them for good reason and has now come back with possibly the best name ever, BEST COAST, because let’s all face it – the West Coast is the best coast. This song is really great. Someone I know said that it was kind of a bullshit cop-out to try and describe music by calling it sunny, but I think THAT’S the kind of English cold-weather, sad-faced attitude that actually NEEDS sunny music like this to buoy them up to imagining kind of sunny, sandy, beautiful place that could spawn this kind of music. BC’s vocals are merry and longing sweet, but don’t get thrown off by the lo-fi, the rhythm section’s a little dirty in a good way and the guitar is catchy as fuck. I promise you won’t be able to get this out of your head. Recorded by Lewis of Fool’s Gold/Foreign Born, I forsee great things from the wonderful collective that is working in Los Angeles…
