introducing :: family trees

Thanks to Weekly Tape Deck, I stumbled across Brooklyn’s Family Trees and found their debut 7″ ‘Dream Talkin’ which I fell in love with immediately. According to someone or other, these guys are loaded with an “epic 14 track sampler” and were yearning to get out of the city and get to the beach. Hi, who doesn’t want to do that? However, they succeed – not sure they’re really reaching King of the Beach territory with this but it’s a damn good track. It’s a really straight to the point (1 minute and 50 seconds of bliss) track with twangy guitars and a nice little keyboard bit but really what I’m loving about it is not only it’s heartfelt simplicity but I love the way the music is really sweet and hopeful but the vocals are simultaneously really distant and also unbelievably close. All in all, it’s a damn charming track. I can’t wait to hear more from these guys…

If you’re around the east coast – check these guys out. Just saw they’re friends with Reading Rainbow and Eternal Summers. Birds of a feather flock together. Awesome:
