Unlike seemingly everyone else who runs blogs, I don’t give a flying fuck about Vivian Girls or any of their millions of side-projects and shit that always seems to be sprouting up like a giant game of musical Gophers that won’t stay down. And for the first time ever, this is okay because Cassie Ramone is in The Babies. What makes the Babies different, you ask? Well mostly that I didn’t know a Vivian Girl was in it — but also because I started listening to them and loving what I heard. Big ups to Rollo Grady for adding “Breakin’ The Law” to their August Playlist. Equal parts shambolic and catchy — it’s firmly rooted in someones basement/living room and it’s just got a great amount of shouty vocals over cymbals (something I usually love). It reminds me of something I really love but I can’t put my finger on it. You have to hear it anyway.
