I don’t listen to a whole lot of bands who operate outside North America and England (which, by all means, is probably a critical error – so international bands who make great tunes, send them!) let alone many French bands. That is, except for the great Cheveu, who you need to check out. But, I got another group of French garage-pop weirdos for you in the form of The Crusaders of Love, coming at us out of Lille. These dudes just released their debut album, Never Grow Up, via Douchemaster Records and it’s just that: fun, unpretentious, good time, scuzzpop garage. It’s pretty much everything that I love with a great sense of humor and a fair bit of sweat and spit. The obviously standout track is the fucking fantastic ‘Good Time All the Time‘ which, like the album, is pretty much as straight-forward as it gets. It’s 100% headbopping, mash-potatoe dance move, jangling garage groover with some of the best lyrics that have ever been written. “Yeah, gonna smoke some weed / Friday night smoke some speed / Me and you are gonna get laid!” Yeah, I’m in.
