These four lads hail from the South, which I guess, is probably the best part of England — if I was to have to say a part was ‘best’ at any rate. But at least one of these Sauna Youth racketmakers lives in Brighton which for no obvious reason makes me so happy. Another thing which makes me adore this band immediately, is their Mission Statement which is “Sorry / You’re Welcome’. Yeah. That’s pretty awesome. This Southern foursome makes kind of murky punk that edges on the side nearest to hard than it does to 60s pop. It sounds like the stuff that I would love to see live and just shove people to. That’s actually a favorite thing of mine to do like once every three months. Teenage Summer however errs more on the edge of classic pop-psych with plenty of fuzz and reverb that ticks many of my ‘hot boxes of 2010′. They also have a really rad song called ‘Pictures of Cats’ that is immediate and punchy and superbly titled. I am looking forward to seeing what these punks are going to be like live, and since Sauna Youth will be joining Ty Segall and Fair Ohs for the best line-up of the Brighton gig season which will take place on December 12th at Jam. You can still pick up your tickets here. Do not miss!!!
