I think something might be up in Colorado, and not just snow. First we had the husband/wife duo of Tennis, but now we’ve got the utterly great twosome (foursome? I don’t know) School Knights who have literally in one day, bowled me over. I’m furiously repeating their insanely exuberant guitar pop. As much as I’ve been jamming on the songs I have off Rush SK EP, I’ve got my eyes firmly fixed on the release of their debut album, Fuck The Beach, which, amazing title excluded, is probably going to be on constant rotation around these parts. The cut that I have off this album, ‘Lunch Money, hasn’t left my brain since the first 5 seconds I heard of it. ‘Lunch Money’ is unreal. Super sick hooks, dueling guitars, awash in fuzz yet managing to stay all fun-in-the-sun and, then they go and add sort of wistful vocals? I’m like a fish on a line for this song, it’s so good.
You can pick up their EP via Irvine’s Bridgetown Records soon. Keep your eyes peeled for more on their forthcoming debut. They’re also coming to California in December, presumably to escape the snow, which I’ll be doing, too, AND catching them at the following shows:
