Our buds over at Weekly Tape Deck, and the equally excellent Rose Quartz, just turned us on to this new dude, The Meanest Boys, which is actually Californian Will Marquis’ bedroom solo project. He’s selling all his records, excluding this free mix lamenting the death of four loko, on his bandcamp for the cheapsie price of $1 and, I’ll be damned if ‘Strangest Things’ isn’t worth at least, 5x that amount. Seriously, ‘Strangest Things’ with its cheap as all hell drum beat, fuzzy as fuck bass and sort of saucy guitar line, is the best thing I’ve heard in the past couple of days. I’m hopelessly addicted to this dude’s vocals, the way he almost croons “The strangest things are happening to me / whenever you’re around the strangest things“, well, frankly it’s like the story of my life except possibly I’m the person who brings the strange things, but nonetheless, this RULES. Don’t sleep.
