Our buds over at Be Bop Kids and The Pigeon Post have turned us on to Leed’s Eagulls. As other people have said, I hear a little bit of The Pixies and a little bit of the Cribs (Oasis, though I don’t hear, but whatever) — I really get a ‘If Modest Mouse Wern’t Awful’ vibe from these dudes. There’s a pinch of slacker guitar pop, a little bit of fuzzy punk and raw energy in each one of the songs off their Songs of Prey casette tape, which being sold for £1.50 sold out immediately. Currently, I’m pretty obsessed with ‘Fifteen‘ which, if I can use another slacker guitar band’s terms, is totally gold soundz! This is immediately likeable, the bass line draws you in and then the guitar is kind of whirling, and it just is really fucking good. Ba-da-ba-ba-ba I’m loving it.
