I’ve never been told particularly good things, and by not particularly, I mean everyone has said how shit it is to me. I mean, someone described it as a place where the inhabitants are too poor to buy Pugs, so you know it can’t be that good. However, Thee Ludds, who are one of two good bands from the Leicester area, are pretty good. Thee Ludds make seriously old time garage rock; it’s all rollicking waves of nasty (in the best kind of way, obviously) keyboard, skittering, shouty vocals and it’s all played fast as fuck. You can grab their new 7″ ‘Skin & Bones‘ off Hodad Records . Check out ‘I Told You I Would‘ off their Fez Bowl Cassette, which you can pick up from Tye Die Tapes below. If you thought the Horrors first album was too concerned with fashion and not enough with rocking, and maybe they got together with John Dwyer for five minutes, this is probably close to what you’d get.
