introducing :: tandoori knights

Somehow, one of King Khan’s side projects slipped past me. You’ll forgive me, since he has so many, but I’ve gotten my hands on Tandoori Knights, his collaboration with rockabilly dude Bloodshot Bill. ‘Bandstand’ has got to be my favorite track off their LP, Curry Up! It’s the Tandoori Knights, which was put out on the ever radical Norton Records, and it features 12 curried up treats. Concept wise, the band gets an A+ from me, I don’t see how anyone couldn’t like an Indian-influenced garage/rockabilly band — especially one as absurd and jiving as this one. From the first few seconds where King Khan says “Fuck Dick Clark”, I knew I would adore this song. Minimal, with a “good beat, you can dance to it”, ‘Bandstand’ is the tale of not being aloud to play the Bandstand in Philly and it is amazingly catchy and weird. Who knows if this project will continue, but I think this LP is one worth owning. Death cult soup and salad, y’all!

    This is a straight up magical song. I feel like I am in the middle of an all night go-go/blues jam in a wagon train in the middle of a desert. And I’m lightheaded from lack of hydration.
