Get to know the name Martin Cohen if you haven’t yet already. Besides being a former member of Nine Black Alps, he is also known far and wide for having a beard of excellence. Having left NBA, he’s now found an outlet in Milk Maid, based out of Manchester. Milk Maid are really excellent and kind of wound up being the straw that broke the camels back in terms of Northern bands vs Southern bands that are ruling right now. This is another gold soundz piece of lo-fi slacker garage pop and there ain’t no shame in that. Milk Maid have a knack for beautifully non-chalant melodies, flat out fantastic hooks and really catchy choruses. ‘Such Fun’ is a marriage of all these things and of course, it’s freaking wonderful. I just wish it was longer — and that’s a damn good problem to have.
‘Such Fun‘ came out as a 7″ with ‘Can’t You See‘ last October on the great Suffering Jukebox. They’ve got an album coming in June and according to the Mazes guys, it’s one to look out for, as well as a split with the Fresh & Onlys. Represent!
