Normally I don’t listen to anything that mixes sort of bedroom guitar and electronics, but I’ve had to make an exception for San Diego’s Colleen Green. Not only is she admired by tons of musicians that I really like, but according to approximately every person on Twitter who caught her at SXSW, she fucking kicked ass. I got my hot little hands on a copy of her new 7″ Green One which you can pick up courtesy of the great Hardly Art. ‘Green One’, off the eponymous 7″, is a slice of spring-time pop that errs on the side of perfection unlike anything I’ve heard recently. You can forget how silly those little drum taps are because of the head-nodding guitar and the catchy “I’m just a green one, green one” which makes me, too, want to be a green one. This is necessary listening, promise.
