introducing: the bell peppers

If you know me, you’ll know that I love a ridiculous band name (and EP title) with a little bit of humor. Playing right into the fact that Manchester is owning the UK in terms of new band talent, The Bell Peppers come out with their free EP, Cooking With The Bell Peppers. Lazy and swell, their EP is four tracks worth of dark 50s inspired surf pop. This has been the soundtrack of many slightly-chilled out sunsets, watched from my balcony with a little breeze fluttering by recently. It’s pretty fucking perfect for that, but it’s not all instrumental, though, and when there’s vocals — they’re really kind of menacing and fuzzed out. But comparisons to a less loop-based Monster Rally or current instrumental surf kings Y Niwl won’t be far off from the mark. Get the full EP at their bandcamp. (Via our friends at Pigeon Post)
