Been meaning to lovingly type a mushy love note to Vancouver’s The High Drops for a few weeks now. The fact that they’re mates with the en pointe Indian Wars made me pretty sure that I’d like them, and I was quite right. These young Canadians fit in perfectly with the garage scene that is currently thriving up in BC. Their EP is a rad collection of my favorite things: 50s/60s influence and raw garage bues punk. ‘Street Girl‘ is the epitome of taking timeless influences and making them modern – slashing guitars, blues-psych riffs and freakouts, insane hooks and a catchy chorus.
