Although I reported earlier that London-via-Leciester’s Sex Beet (and one of the best English bands around, obviously) were planning on recording their debut LP in Berlin with King Khan this summer, the date has actually gotten pushed back to October. Regardless, it’s going to be one of the best albums of the year and we’ve got a dope new cut that may well wind up on the finished LP. ‘Dreams‘, like every other new Sex Beet song that I’ve heard this year, is a step in a new direction away from what they did well (which is: two and a half minute twangy, rowdy as fuck songs) to something new that they also do exceedingly well. The new songs are longer and noisier, but retain the same yelp-like vocals and instantly catchy bits, and there’s like this cute interlude of keyboard that although strange just works. If I was to put a name to it, I’d call it damn fine noisy rock and roll. Can’t wait for the LP.
