Damn, there is a lot of Good Stuff going on tomorrow!
Option #1:

(lol look at that cat)
Harlem at Spaceland. We’ve been listening to these guys a ton lately, their music is catchy as hell and a little bit sassy, aka right up our alley.
Damn, there’s a lot going on here. As I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, we LUV Best Coast, Wavves are pretty cool, Andy Milonakis? Umm, weird, but okay. This one is 21+ but FREE with RSVP here: rsvp@mishkanyc.com
Lastly, if you feel like making the trek out to Orange County and if you like old fart bands–and I say this with affection, i LOVE old fart bands, The Damned and Buzzcocks are playing the Musink Tattoo Festival.
I am torn. TORN! I need a time turner a la Hermione Granger.
Well, not that sorry since you get the excellent combo of Harlem (our new NRBW favorites) and Best Coast! That’s a beautiful thing. Be careful. Check out our awesome chart I made in case you are travelling to SF. It will be very illuminating and helpful.

Boom! Pretty good lineup. I mean, yeah, but there’s nothing in the world save um, Bob Dylan proposing to me that would cause me to go to Mexico.
AUSTIN PSYCH FEST 3
The Black Angels and the Reverberation Appreciation Society are happy to announce that Austin Psych Fest 3 will be held the weekend of April 23rd, 24th and 25th at The Mohawk.
The Mohawk is a multi-level, multi-stage venue in downtown Austin’s Red River district. We love The Mohawk and you will too.
Lineup information will be announced soon, tickets will go on sale in March.
Tickets will be available online at austinpsychfest.com and Austin TX record stores. Stay tuned for the latest info, we’re looking forward to releasing lineup info soon.

Words shamelessly stolen from my friends at Drowned in Sound.
The first wave of bands have been announced for the ultra-intimate and Oxfordshire-based Wood Festival, which comes to you from the makers of Truck Festival. It’s all eco-friendly and that, and there’s only 800 tickets, too!
Anyway, the first batch of artists includes:
Tunng
Fionn Regan
Martin Simpson
Danny And The Champions Of The World
Frontier Ruckus
Ora Coogan
Trevor Moss & Hannah Lou
Dusty & The Dreaming Stars
WOOD – which takes place from 21-23 May in Brazier Park, Oxfordshire – claims to be Britain’s greenest festival, and who are we to argue? It’s powered entirely on renewable energy – solar power, wind power, and even includes a cycle-powered cinema and disco. As for toilet matters, gone are the plastic portaloos, and in are composting toilets, which sound a lot more pleasant. I’m thinking it’ll be kind of like an outhouse style set-up.
Other than the music, there are many workshops of varying themes and directions. It wouldn’t be worth calling it WOOD without one on woodcraft, though, as well as yoga, knitting, story-telling and the long-lost art of thatching.
Weekend tickets are priced at £70 for adults; a price which includes all camping as well as any workshops you may wish to attend throughout the weekend. Junior ticket prices (13-17) are £50, children under 12 get in free AND there’s also the opportunity to get a TRUCK+WOOD ticket all in one go. They go on sale on February 13.
There’s a junior ticket for ages 13-17 priced £50, children 12 & under can come along for free! Don’t forget you can also get a Supertrucker ticket – giving you access to both WOOD and it’s bigger brother TRUCK. TRUCK tickets go on sale 13th February.

BRO FEST 2010
Curated by Parade of Flesh
What: BRO FEST 2010 will be a one-day festival featuring over 16 distinct newcomers and established touring acts from a variety of genres. “Bro Fest” is an alternate name to follow up last year’s inaugural South by South Flesh. SXSFlesh 2009 featured Young Widows (temporary residence), My Disco (Australia), Thee Oh Sees (in the red), Women (flemish eye), Abe Vigoda (post present medium), Pterodactyl (brah!), Ty Segall (goner), The Coathangers (suicide squeeze), Vampire Hands (various), Sleepy Sun (atp recordings), The Fresh & Onlys (woodsist), Howl (relapse) and Juarez (us two). Wavves and Trash Talk were unable to play due to excessive partying in Austin and horrendous traffic on I-35 North.
Why the name change? To limit any and all connections to SXSW, since they asked me to sign a Licensee Agreement last year. I guess my one day festival of bands really interfered with their reputation and namesake.
Who: Line-up, so far (alphabetical order/subject to change):
ASG (Wilmington NC – Volcom)
DUM DUM GIRLS (Los Angeles – Sub Pop/Captured Tracks)
FRANKIE ROSE & The OUTS (Brooklyn – Slumberland)
LITURGY (Brooklyn – 20 Buck Spin/Infinite Limbs)
NAAM (Brooklyn – Tee Pee)
RWAKE (Little Rock – Relapse)
SISTERS (Brooklyn – Death By Audio)
SLEEPY SUN (San Francisco – ATP Recordings)
SNAKE SUSTAINE (feat. 3 mem. of A LIFE ONCE LOST)
THOSE DARLINS (Nashville – Oh Wow Dang)
TINSEL TEETH (Providence – Nail in the Coffin/Load)
U.S. CHRISTMAS (North Carolina – Neurot)
WHITE MICE (Providence – 20 Buck Spin/Load)
WITHERED (Atlanta- Prosthetic)
WOVEN BONES (Austin – HoZac/Sweet Rot/Needless)
more tba soon
Where: This year, BRO FEST 2010 will be held at Double-Wide Bar – 3510 Commerce St – Dallas, TX 75226 on Two Stages, 2 stages; inside and outdoor parking lot.
When: Sunday, March 21st, 2010 – 2pm to 12am
Onsale/Ticket Cost: tba/tba
Drive: Consider the traffic if you are coming from Austin. A normal drive from Austin to Dallas via I-35 North is 3 hrs. On this particular date, the exodus of people will cause traffic to be around a 5+ hour drive if you leave after 1PM from Austin. There are alternate routes that take just as long, but there won’t be any stop-and-go traffic (tends to be a more relaxing drive).

Jay-Zed (added for any British readers of the blog, as they say Zed and NOT Z) and The Strokes are set top play next year’s Isle Of Wight festival.
The rapper will headline on the opening night (June 11), followed by Julian Casablancas’ men (12).
They will be joined on the bill by fellow New Yorkers Blondie, plus Pink, Orbital and Squeeze.
Tickets for the festival, which takes place between June 11 and 13 next year, go on sale this Friday (December 4).

So Crocodiles, as we know, have been building up a much-deserved buzz around them this year. I FINALLY caught them opening for The Raveonettes last week at the Fonda, after missing all their shows this summer and they were great, but probably suited for a smaller venue where the feedback can completely envelope you rather than bounce off the walls and get lost in space.
Sub-Pop’s new signees Dum Dum Girls are another San Diego band that now claims to be an LA band (cough cough SOFT PACK) but I won’t hold that against them. I’m waiting for the whole buzzsaw guitars and reverb-turned-up-to-11 thing to get old to me, but nope, doesn’t seem to happening yet. And the girls do it well.
But if you don’t feel like making the trek to SD, Dum Dum Girls and Pearl Harbor (also a good band) are playing Spaceland on November 28th also with The Tartans. I think that’ll be a good show, you should attend.

(aka nobody’s buying tickets and they’re desperate? somebody had to say it)

Even I’m going, and I’m on old fart who only likes Oasis. Worth the 8 bucks just to see Darker My Love and The Strange Boys, but I’m sure there’s something for everyone.
Dear All
It is with immense personal regret that the Directors of Beachdown Festival have been advised that they must announce that due to slower than forecast ticket-sales and lack of support at a critical time from our bank and certain suppliers that despite being so so close to being able to deliver Beachdown Festival we are unable to do so. Very simply we were unable to meet the demands that the current economic climate put against us and at the eleventh hour despite having most of the infrastructure in place we have been forced to cancel the event.
We wish to say at this time how desperately sorry we are to all those who have bought tickets or were participating in the event and to say that we all here are personally shattered expecially after eleven months of battling against the recession to try and put this event on and coming so close. We also wish to advise everyone that we explored every possible avenue to finance the event including re-mortgaging our houses to combat the unwillingness of banks to support us.
We will do everything in our power to give the best information that we can via the web-site and via email but we ask that people understand that we will also be inundated with enquiries but we will endeavour to communicate to everyone as best we can.
We ask all ticket-holders to get information from the outlet that you purchased the ticket from in the first instance and once again we will do everything we can to get as much infrmation as we can to everyone as quickly as we can.
