Okay, so I felt really compelled to blog about how the murdering of Bob Dylans songs need to stop immediately. It’s like, if we can band together for a really shittily run charity, we should also put a stop to the suffering of Bob Dylan’s timeless pieces of art — even though I feel like 60s Bob would kill me for saying that.

So today I’m looking at the stuff you can overpay for on Record Store Day here in the UK and I came across a Bob Dylan, because they always press some random record of his and this year they’re re-releasing Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?, which to be honest is a pretty great choice and a completely underrated gem. But then, to my shock and horror and chagrin, I read immediately below Sony presents Bob Dylan (The Ting Tings Remix). LIKE.

STOP WHAT YOUR DOING AND THINK ABOUT THIS CATASTROPHE.

I generally dislike remixes, and hate Bob Dylan remixes more than anything in the world (except these remixes by K’Naan which are actually amazing) but I just wanted to run down the list of unacceptable things that have happened “recently”:

1. Mark Ronson butchered Most Likely You Go Your Way And I’ll Go Mine
2. Ke$ha “sang” a cover of Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright
3. Countless other disasters that make me want to say “FLAG ON THE PLAY! ENCROACHMENT!” etc and then punt them but am too lazy to type out here for you

But on top of all this, The Ting Tings remixing Dylan? No. It has to stop here. We must stop it here lest the Wombats are next in line to take on a Dylan classic! So take a stand, or something.

I mean, can we at least wait until the man is dead before we desecrate everything he did?

Happy Thanksgiving you guys! When I lived in America this was my least favorite holiday of all time, but this is my 3rd Thanksgiving away from America and now I love it. I’m particularly thankful today for: The Babies, 2Pac, Mia, Taylor, James, Pocky, Toby, School Knights, Pangea, Bob Dylan and Kanye West. Enjoy over-eating, y’all, it’s what the forefathers wanted.

Y’all… I can’t believe I’m making this post, but um, three years ago today Colette and I made our first blog posts! A little bit of NRBW history for you — we had spent all summer of 2007 basically travelling the world mocking bands and decided we needed an online outlet so our buddies could appreciate our humor, which is always on point – of course. We chose the name Nu Rave Brain Wave because, at the time, Nu Rave was totally the witch-house of it’s era and we would make jokes when we had the exact same thoughts about music and say it was a Nu Rave Brain Wave between us. Dubious beginnings nonwithstanding, I happen to love this blog and am pretty pleased and surprised how far we’ve come (in looks, in music taste, and in profiting off this bitch) in the past 3 years. Each year has been better musically, and I know 2011 is going to top the ridiculously crazy amazingness that 2010 has brought. See you every day until next October 22nd. I read some really sad news today that I thought I would share and show my support for these dudes. Although I’ve never been, I know that the Flowerpot in London is one of the best venues — it’s always free, books progressive and awesome new bands, and is partially run by NRBW dear friend and object of our great affection, Beans on Toast. Read their statement via their Twitter below:

“We’re completed gutted to inform you that from 1st November The Flowerpot will no longer be at this venue – more info to follow… We’ve basically been scammed and after building a successful venue from scratch the lease has been sold from beneath our feet. We will of course be taking everything and everyone with us when we go and promise to find a new HQ quicker than you can say Jagerbomb.”

The photo above, as you may well see, is Black Lips guitarist (and possibly one of my favorite people on this earth) with a grill. Apparently, ‘Ian made him’ and he’s trying to ‘change his look’. He may well want to start with a new hat, that bitch has been making the rounds since Oct. 08. Cole also talked to Spin about the new album, which will hopefully see the light of day in January or February. The most choice quote of all? “I love dumpster diving. It’s one of my passions.” (Oh, ps: hear Joe Bradley do a version of ‘So Long to Carolina’ which supposedly will be on the new album below)
