Three-Disc Set To Be Released November 10, 2009
Fifth Studio Album Due Out Next Spring…Vagrant Records is pleased to announce their partnership with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to release Live, a 2-DVD, 1 CD set on November 10, 2009 on the band’s own Abstract Dragon label.

The DVD features over two hours of live concert footage from three sold out shows in Berlin, Dublin and Glasgow.

Over ninety minutes of unadorned, intimate behind-the-scenes footage is captured on the second bonus DVD along with additional performance footage.

The package is rounded out by a bonus audio CD featuring 14 songs from the concert film and a gorgeous 48-page booklet of previously unseen backstage and candid photos of the band.

The Los Angeles, CA-based group is currently at The Station House studio in Hollywood finishing work on their fifth studio album. This will be the band’s first recording with drummer Leah Shapiro and is expected to have a March 2010 release.”

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

from the myspace:
Following the online exclusive release of The Effects Of 333, Peter, Rob and Leah have entered the studio to start recording BRMC..’s 5th Studio Album. The tentative plan is to release the album late this (they seem to have omitted a key word here) with tour dates to follow.

In other news, the band have recently completely their first ever live DVD, with audio mixed by Peter Hayes, recorded in Glasgow, Berlin and Dublin during the Baby 81 world tour. The DVD will see a release later this spring and more information on the release will be coming soon.

Exclusive to members of the site, close friend to the band, Billy Nicorgski, has shot a selection of pre-production photos of the band from The Cobbs studio in Philadelphia. These photos will be available in the Gallery later this week and a notice will go out when those photos are available.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ The Key Club

After spending two hours in the pouring rain (wearing flats, nonetheless!) it’s nice to be rewarded with two solid hours of one of the (if not THE) best American bands there are.

After our feet had dried and our “winter coats” (in LA, this translates to sweatshirt) came off, the show began with guitarist Peter Hayes coming on stage alone to perform “Complicated Situation”. He was soon after joined by bandmates Robert and Nick to launch into the anthemic “Shuffle Your Feet”. As “tii-ii-iii-iiiime won’t save our souls!” was shouted throughout the venue I knew I was in for an incredible night.

The energy of the band and crowd rose and rose as “Love Burns” and then Baby 81 singles “Weapon of Choice” and “Berlin” were performed, along with older faves “Six Barrel Shotgun” and “Red Eyes and Tears”. Robert mellowed us out as he took a seat on a monitor and treated us to a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Visions of Johanna”

8+ minute “American X” sent me into a bit of a muddled haze, in the absolute best way. It took me a few seconds to snap out of it and wait for the encore, which
began with Peter coming on stage alone once again, lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth. The show ended predictably but incredibly with “Whatever Happened to My Rock ‘n Roll” as mic stands went flying and I was nearly pummelled in the head with a bass guitar, something that seems to happen to me often.

I exited the Key Club into the downpour that apparently hadn’t let up at all during the show, feeling more impressed with a band and concert than I had in a VERY long time.

Welcome home BRMC!!
