Blur & FLORENCE &THE MACHINE and some other bands

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Blur have finally picked the bands they want to open for them at the Hyde Park gigs. July 2 is kind of WTF, but awesome. And July 3 is also kind of WTF but awesome. These are going to be some great gigs.

July 2 features the following bands:
Foals, Crystal Castles, Friendly Fires and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

July 3 features the following bands:
Vampire Weekend, Amadou & Mariam, Florence And The Machine and Deerhoof

Speaking exclusively to NME.COM, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koening: declared: “I think the Hyde Park show will be pretty phenomenal. People have been waiting a long time to see Blur reunite and it’s flattering to be invited to play at all. This will be my first time seeing Blur live and I’m psyched.”

As previously reported, Blur so play Manchester MEN Arena on June 26, with Klaxons and Florence & The Machine joining them on the bill.

BLUR REUNION CONFIRMED FOR 09?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

From thetripwire.com:

“It’s official. Damon Albarn told the BBC today that Blur will reunite in 2009, and that means all four of them — including guitarist Graham Coxon. Albarn spilled the beans on the reunion just before a performance of his opera Monkey: Journey To the West at the BBC Radio Theatre in London this afternoon.

Just before the show, host Janice Long asked Albarn whether or not the rumors were true about a possible Blur reunion. Albarn’s response: “Blur are certainly going to rehearse and see if we’re into it.” Having all four members back in one studio will definitely be interesting, as Coxon only appeared on one track of 2003′s Think Tank, having left the group a year before its release.”

There is no emoticon to express my excitement!!

Since the great Blur vs Oasis chart battle of 1995, there have been some ridiculous stories about the two gangs’ rivalry – but possibly none more cheesy than one we spotted this morning (January 30).

According to one tabloid who shall remain nameless to spare their blushes, Damon Albarn and the Gallagher brothers are teaming up with Blur bassist Alex James to make a special cheese for next year’s Brits.

The tabloid’s ‘source’ also reveals that the Gallagher brothers have long been fans of cheese.

Apparently, the two gangs are creating an extra-strong Stilton, which will be offered as a dessert at the awards ceremony next month.

Perhaps they could call it ‘Brie Here Now’…but with both lots currently very busy with musical projects we doubt very much a Blur and Oasis reunion through cheese will come about, but still it’s a lovely thought, isn’t it?

Incredible. I would eat this magical cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner and maybe dessert.
