It’s pretty well documented how much I love the Babies! They are seriously the best band and I cannot wait for their LP to drop in February. Thank god for me, they’re doing a little West Coast tour with the great White Fence. Besides digging Tim Presley’s every day outfit (Darker My Love) and his side outfit (The Strange Boys), I adore White Fence’s super 60s garage melodies and I’m also way stoked for his second LP which will be released soon as well. We’ve got two LA dates and you can guarantee that I’ll be at both. Check out the poster, the dates below and some tunes. You’d be a fool not to.

Just when I thought everything that was super fun, awesomely stocked with great bands happening on my birthday had been announced, here comes the Eagle Rock Music Festival. Another mini-festival happening on my birthday (October 2nd) which I cannot attend. Of course. It runs from 4pm-11pm on Colorado Blvd between Eagle Rock and Argus. One of our favorite LA bands (I know, we have about 50 million, we can’t help it) Dangerbird’s Darker My Love are following up their 2008 album 2 with their third effort, Alive As You Are which will be out in the US on August 17th. For UK friends, you’ll see this album on the 26th of July (way before us, WTF?) so definitely get your hot little hands on that. However, UK friends will not be able to attend either of the bands forthcoming album release shows, CALIFORNIA ONLY suckers! Check out the dates below, go, support, buy buy buy.

White Fence is one man, Tim Presley, singer in garage-soul band Darker My Love, player on The Fall album Reformation Post TLC and now full-time member of The Strange Boys. Amid all this band-hopping, he’s managed to record an LP of lysergic psychedelic songs (think: Arthur Lee without the budget and the guns). The White Fence LP is out now on Eric and Anthony from Nodzzz’s label, Make a Mess.

Words shamelessly stolen from Vice, because I can’t believe I never heard about this! We at NRBW love everything The Tim Presley has done from DML to now, The Strange Boys, and given the first couple of listens this is right up the same alley. Definitely check out.
