Words shamelessly stolen from p4k, photo shamelessly stolen from googleimages. It’s how we roll.

The L.A. indie label IAMSOUND puts on for its city. The label is teaming up with the British record store Pure Groove to launch the L.A. Collection, a series of split 7″ singles featuring local bands like Fool’s Gold, Local Natives, Dead Man’s Bones, Rainbow Arabia, Nosaj Thing, Pocahaunted, and Signals (ex-Mae Shi). Each 7″ will include exclusive material (except for Local Natives’ contribution), and the label will release one single every month through August.

The first single, out on February 16, is by We Are the World (it’s not a split.) It will be followed by the March release, a split between Moonrats and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes. The singles will be available from IAMSOUND’s website, as well as at L.A. record stores and at Pure Groove in the UK. Each single will include art by locals Ingrid Allen and Elisa Saether and typesetting by designer Aaron Rose.

One of the best labels in LA, IAMSOUND, got profiled in LA Weekly and its a really excellent article. They’re such a good label – and I swear I’m not saying that because I interned there. I wish I would have stayed longer but I know first hand how hard they work and how much they’re invested (and LOVE) the bands they work with and it really shows. I’m proud to have done a little work with them and only wish them good things in the future – I think its pretty plain to see that good things will continue coming to them. Go read this.

0609foolsgold_lgGod, this is such awesome news that I’ve just recieved. One of my favorite new bands in all the world – the epic, the magical, the mystical FOOLS GOLD have been recording their debut album. After their amazing 7″, Surprise Hotel, which is possibly one of the best songs I’ve heard all year, they’re releasing their debut which is going to be filled with so much wonder and excitement. And the best part about it is, they’re releasing it on IAMSOUND Records. For those that don’t know, last summer I interned at IAMSOUND and personally feel they’re one of the top labels in LA and even in all of ‘Murika. They consistently have worked with talented artists such as FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE (a NRBW fav) and LITTLE BOOTS and TELEPATHE. This is a great day. The album will be coming out September 29th. Mark your calenders. That’s also my 2nd day of school at Uni. Brighton. CRAZY.

Released today is Telepathe’s debut full-length album Dance Mother. It’s been available digitally for a couple months now but CDs and LPs are in stores today, and we know that you, as a true music fan, want to hold a physical CD or vinyl in your hands! It’s been getting rave reviews in the press, and they will be going on a headlining US tour in June (dates at the bottom of this post).

“Dance Mother is an avant-garde/hip-hop hybrid and a big ol’ pile of conflicting elements that seamlessly melt together into one gorgeous – and infections – drone. . . Though each song wafts with the familiarity of influences, not one feels like a rehash, or a gimmick, making Dance Mother true avant-pop brilliance.” – Bust
“Telepathe’s debut feels fresh: They bring TV on the Radio-style cacophony, Cocteau Twins-esque vocals, and their own dazzling electronic to winning tracks like ‘So Fine’ and ‘In Your Line’” – Details

Speaking of debut releases, Suckers have their self-titled debut EP in stores today! This four-track CD, produced by Anand Wilder of Yeasayer, has been the talk of the blogs and music critics everywhere, garnering a Best New Music recommendation on Pitchfork for “It Gets Your Body Movin’” and “Band to Watch” status on Stereogum. Besides out on CD, it’s out digitally through retailers such as Amie Street (highly recommended!), iTunes and others.
The band will also be having a residency this July at Piano’s in NYC, playing every Thursday, as well as upcoming shows with MGMT, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and others.
Both Suckers and Telepathe will be having record release parties, with Telepathe’s tomorrow night (the 15th) at The Annex with Popo and Frances the Wolf, and Suckers’ party on the 23rd at Glasslands in Brooklyn with Tanlines and a Yeasayer DJ set, as well as free Colt 45. The flyers are below for both.
Last but certainly not least is Little Boots’s Arecibo EP, out on 12-inch vinyl. We released this originally in November of last year and it sold out so quickly through our website and select stores around the country that we are re-releasing it today, nationwide in stores! To say that the buzz around Little Boots has been rising is an understatement; along with a run of very successful SXSW shows (including a Perez Hilton party duet with Kid Cudi), Little Boots has been named a “Rising Star” by Access Hollywood, a “Breaking Artist” by Rolling Stone, a Top Ten Music Pick for 2009 by NME, and countless other accolades (not to mention, of course, the FADER cover, the BBC pick, etc.)
Go to your store and pick up the Little Boots EP this week! And, while you’re at it, pick up Telepathe’s album and Suckers’s EP. Basically, today is IAMSOUND Day, as you can see. Anybody who buys all three is our new best friend (seriously: if you send us a picture this week of you with all three releases, and not just in the store, as in you actually bought all three, we will send you some free goodies and make you our best friend).

So if you haven’t heard of Florence and the Machine yet, you’re probably reading the wrong magazines and blogs. She’s currently finishing up her takeover of the UK and is now ready to take on America. She wants to show America that she LOVES us, so her US Label IAMSOUND Records (whut whut) are holding a contest where the winner will get a personalized video preformance of her single “KISS WITH A FIST” (its amazing, i’ve posted about it before) and they get to pick the location, something the Florence will be holding and what she’ll be wearing. There’s some pretty hilarious/crazy options (good to know Florence/IAMSOUND have a good sense of humor) so don’t hesitate to enter HERE and if you haven’t bought her single KISS WITH A FIST with the CWK cover as the b-side…. get to it! Even I have it. Keep your eyes out for the album, she’s working with James Ford (!!!!). Oh btw- the deadline is September 18th!
