pete doherty :: got a wedgie – yep
Thursday, March 12th, 2009
What has been your biggest regret?
I stage dived in Dundee and got a wedgie. That was awful. I ran off the stage and hid in the tour bus crying. The gig was going great, so I thought, “I’ll dive in,” and this big Scotsman just grabbed hold of my pants and said, “Cop a load of this, Doherty!” Those were his exact words. “Cop a load of this.” When they found me on the bus I was crying my eyes out going, “The band’s not working out. I think we should split up.” Nobody believed that was what’s wrong, and eventually I snapped, “All right! I got a wedgie, OK?”

Monday, February 9th, 2009Bad music video is bad
Sunday, February 1st, 2009Ok, I think I’ve been drinking some hater-ade tonight because I watched this video and it made me so angry. There were white flames on the side of my cheeck (Clue joke, ftw) but yeah seriously. What is this shit? Let me first say that this song is not acoustic. It’s full band just softer than what Babyshambles play. Don’t dub this an acoustic album and then get a full band and Stephen Street to produce you to death and try to play it off when we know you’ve done amazing acoustic shit in the past, damnit! But the video – it’s shoddy as fucking hell. Why is there footage of some girl kissing him? You’re cool, Pete, I want to be just like you. And someone taking a pic with you onstage. ROCK AND ROLL BABY. Someone call me when the album leaks and let me know if he didn’t ruin every song.

P.Doh Finally Gets Off His Ass
Tuesday, January 13th, 2009
The man is finally going to release the solo album that has been talked about for ages and ages. The album is going to be released on March 9th (great, just in time to not listen to it due to SXSW) and the single “Last of the English Roses” will be released March 2nd. I guess he recorded it with Stephen Street although I thought Jake Fior did a fair amount of production – who knows with P.Doh, I could certainly be wrong. Also good news – Graham Coxon plays on every song on the album except for “Broken Love Song”.
‘Arcady’ (good one, but not sure how it’ll fit in with the rest of the tracks)
‘Last Of The English Roses’ (the only p.doh song i’ve never listened to)
’1939 Returning’ (supposed to be amazing!)
‘A Little Death Around The Eyes’ (another love song to carlos, but clearly, I love it!)
‘Salome’ (i still need to be convinced on this one)
‘Through The Looking Glass’ (fuck yes, I love this song and can’t wait to hear its new incarnation)
‘Sweet By And By’
‘Palace Of Bone’ (I am like, so gleeful that this has made the cut. This is one of my favorite unrecorded songs of ALL time, save Get Thee To A Nunnery, and I am so blown away that it’s on the album)
‘Sheepskin Tearaway’ (another song I’m sooooooo looking forward to omg!)
‘Broken Love Song’
‘New Love Grows On Trees’ (another love song to Carlos, but its Pete, what can you expect? Also, its a good song)
‘Lady, Don’t Fall Backwards’ (FUCK YES, this song is amazing)

Doherty plays massive set, still proves to be gay for Carl
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008
Pete Doherty played the Mass in Brixton AGAIN last night, after what seems like a lifetime residency. He played for about 5 hours which is shockingly long! Adam Ficek opened playing as Roses Kings Castles for one of his first gigs ever and was absolutely fantastic I’m sure! I cannot wait for his album – I know it will be great. Back to Doherty, who covered the Stone Roses and Neil Young last night.
Some more from NME:
I’m sorry I’m late, but I’ve got a blinding excuse,” he joked. “I, er, my escort died of an overdose. No, erm, I broke my crucifix, that’s it!” He then played human beatbox and soundchecked by playing ‘Harvest’ by Neil Young.
Pete Doherty interacted with fans a great deal during the gig, stepping from the stage to chat, take song requests and pose for photos throughout the night. He took four breaks during the gig to allow fans to have cigarettes outside.
After playing ‘The Ballad Of Grimaldi’, Doherty hauled a fan up onstage and had a pop at him about chatting through the set.
“Do you wanna hear some tunes?” he asked the fan, who replied, “yeah, I wanna hear some tunes from you.”
Doherty replied by saying, “well, all I hear is you talking about some bird!”, prompting laughter from the audience.
Later in the set, after covering ‘Who’s Got The Crack?’ by The Moldy Peaches, Doherty discussed Dirty Pretty Things – the band his former Libertines bandmates Carl Barat and Gary Powell are currently in.
“I’ve tried to go and see Dirty Pretty Things twice,” he said, “but I got nicked on the way to both. I’d like to dedicate this song to Carlos Barat.” He then played ‘You’re My Waterloo’.
Later in the set, Doherty was joined onstage by Wass, who played harmonica, and keyboardist Peter De Havilland, who aided the singer/guitarist in playing songs including ‘Back From The Dead’ and ‘UnBilotitled’.
Doherty ended the gig at 3:15am (BST) solo by playing Babyshambles’ ‘Carry On Up The Morning’ before being driven back to his Wiltshire home.

Royal Albert Hall Gig – Rescheduled
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008The infamous Royal Albert Hall gig that Peter had to cancel due to being in the Wormwood Prison is rescheduled for July 12. Here I was thinking that it would magically be in August or September so that I could go. More info to come later…
P.DOH RELEASED FROM PRISON
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008Pete was released today (or whatever time it was in England) from Wormwood Scrubs. He was only like a month into the 14 week sentence. So apparently, after he got out (and shouted “GOOD MORNING!” with the cutest little smile) he was waiting around for someone to come get him…. and his management forgot all about him. LOL poorrrr pete. Apparently, he called and was like WHERE ARE YOU? WHAT CAN I DO? I CANT GO BACK INSIDE CAN I? hahaha it is really adorable. And then he went home and played with his cats and had some wine. Also, they gave him a bumper sticker for testing negatively whilst in prison. Just kidding- but they did give him a little piece of paper to celebrate…. and they wrote it in these nasty fonts. Maybe they let Peter design it himself?
Some quotes from the ever reliable NME:
“I managed to stay clean. I got my certificate. I was going to Sellotape it to the wall, but they wouldn’t give me any Sellotape,” he said. “Did I take heroin inside? Complete rubbish. The prison didn’t release statements – it’s their policy to ignore it rather than acknowledge it [media reports].
“I got trouble from the start, from the inmates and the guards, mainly shouting at night really,” he explained. “Some people were saying ‘Keep your head down’, the other half were saying ‘Keep your chin up’. So I was a bit like a nodding dog – I didn’t know whether to keep my chin up or keep my head down. It was 18-day early release – I can’t complain really.”
Go watch this video because its adorable: http://music.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,2278094,00.html
