You know from our pre-during-and-post coverage of Scion/VICE’s Garage Fest last year on the best day of the year, October 2nd (also the day of my birth, holla) — that the show was fucking awesome. We were happy to let you peep some great videos of our favorites, Happy Birthday, playing and chatting at the festival (check that, if you haven’t) — and now we have our uber-longtime favorites The Raveonettes footage for you. Below, you should watch Sune and Sharin chatting to Scion AV and then some rad coverage of their live set — which, if you’ve seen them before (and if you haven’t, shame on you) is incredible. Below, download a cut off their forthcoming LP, Raven In A Grave (thank you, Vice Records) which is a swooning, amazing ballad. This is going to be massive.

nye show :: the raveonettes & autolux @ the standard | dec 31st

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

Shit, it’s December. That means the NYE shows are going to start rolling in, and although I already know where I’ll be (San Diego to see Heavy Hawaii with Crocodiles at Soda Bar!) this show is for sure tempting me to stay in Los Angeles.

NRBW long-time favorites, The Raveonettes, will be joined by Sharin’s baby daddy band, Autolux, who we also adore, for a special New Years Eve gig at the Standard in Hollywood. The event is strictly 21+, and while tickets are a steep $50, something tells me that this is going to be a worthwhile investment in your last day of 2010. Awesome.

mp3 :: the raveonettes – black sessions

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Sometimes I forget how much I love the Raveonettes, which is obviously a crucial error, so when I stumbled upon their Black Session from however long ago in FLAC, I knew I had to have it. So here are 3 of my favorite Raveonettes songs that I converted for your listening pleasure. They rule.

One of our all-time favorites, the Raveonettes, magically covered the Stone Roses classic ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Colette’s darlings, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, did ‘Dirty Old Town’ which you can view here

We all know that this is the Drums only real song, right? Well if not, I can confirm that this band have precisely one song and this is it. Their live show leaves much to be desired, the singer is NOT Morrissey – no matter how much he wants to be, and they’re just an all around boring buzz band that we’ll forget the name of next year. This all said, ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ is a motherfucking TUNE! And the good people whom we love so much, The Raveonettes, have done a really awesome remix of it. I recommend you grab it.

The Raveonettes: “Heart of Stone” video

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

This is hands down my favorite song on the album, but the Pixar video creeps me out a little.
