It’s pretty well documented how much I love the Babies! They are seriously the best band and I cannot wait for their LP to drop in February. Thank god for me, they’re doing a little West Coast tour with the great White Fence. Besides digging Tim Presley’s every day outfit (Darker My Love) and his side outfit (The Strange Boys), I adore White Fence’s super 60s garage melodies and I’m also way stoked for his second LP which will be released soon as well. We’ve got two LA dates and you can guarantee that I’ll be at both. Check out the poster, the dates below and some tunes. You’d be a fool not to.

I love doing year end roundup coverage and I’m still waiting to put up the bands to watch list, so I thought we’d highlight some of the great bands we discovered over the past year. Some of them made our 2011 bands to watch list, some of them didn’t, some of them aren’t even NEW but rest assured they all rule. As per the usual, you can download a great mp3 from each of the bands at the links.

And due to high demand you can download a track from each artist put into a zip folder right here.
November has been a really weird month, but I’m pretty sure this is the raddest mixtape that I’ve ever posted. Every single one of these songs pretty much fucking RULES and is at least an 8/10, with most of them being 10/10s. That’s a fact.

Darker My Love has always been a standout favorite of ours here at NRBW, and we love Tim Pressley’s other incarnation (okay, one of many but his stint in the Fall is less up our alley, but his involvement in Strange Boys gets three thumbs up) White Fence is just as endearing as his work in DML. His first album, 2010′s self titled ticked a lot of my music boxes but failed to really ignite my interest — not because it was bad, just probably a product of too much good music, too little time. He’s releasing another album on January 10th via Woodsist called Is Growing Faith, and from the first cut off it — it will probably have a bigger impact on me the second time around. ‘Lillian (Won’t You Play Drums)’ is dark and sweetly melodic, there’s the lo-fi 60s sound for sure and it sounds damn good. There’s something about this that is incredibly charming. Check it out below.

White Fence is one man, Tim Presley, singer in garage-soul band Darker My Love, player on The Fall album Reformation Post TLC and now full-time member of The Strange Boys. Amid all this band-hopping, he’s managed to record an LP of lysergic psychedelic songs (think: Arthur Lee without the budget and the guns). The White Fence LP is out now on Eric and Anthony from Nodzzz’s label, Make a Mess.
Words shamelessly stolen from Vice, because I can’t believe I never heard about this! We at NRBW love everything The Tim Presley has done from DML to now, The Strange Boys, and given the first couple of listens this is right up the same alley. Definitely check out.
